I was 16 years old when the hostages were taken.
47 years now.
Not sure when the Shaw fell but seems it was pretty quick in my mind.
47 years this regime has been in power.
The Shah left in '79. All the crap that has stirred up since the Islamic Republic around the world, we can thank the CIA, the peanut farmer, MI6, the KGB, and France.
All done by the CIA. People dressed up as the Shah’s hated secret police locked 500 women and children in a movie theater. Then the CIA releases that it installed the Shah. Predictable revolt by the people in response, with some CIA intervention to get the government they could work with/then take over. Iran has been a captured state of the CIA, just like NK, Venezuela, and Cuba.
Those 66 hostages were hostages directly as a result of the CIA. And then deals were made to prevent them from being released when Carter was president.
