Decades of pent-up frustration, fear, and anger suddenly erupted and before he knew it, Albanians started freeing themselves from the Communist dictatorship. The police and army joined in quickly. Ceausescu fled the scene but was captured soon, put before a quick tribunal, and executed by firing squad a day or two later alongside his equally tyrannical wife. Tied to upright poles and shot.
In a matter of about 72 hours, Ceausescu went from absolute dictator to a bullet ridden corpse. ** Sic semper tyrannis.**
BTW: I don't quite remember exactly, but you said he was shot (bullet ridden corpse) and I always thought he and his wife were hanged without trial? Perhaps both is correct...
And my dad cheered when that little piece of Deep State finally went down. He kept fiddling with his "HELP!!!" emergency security watch/transmitter, hoping for a last minute reprieve. Nope.
