He took down the flag with the silhouette of the sitting red dragon on it and is waving the flag with the lion and the sun.
This flag has a deeper meaning. It is the pre-Iranian revolution lion and sun flag with a crown that represents the Iranian monarchy. (Trump mentioned it in a recent post) It is not the same as the regular pre-revolution flag of Iran. The Iranian people want the Shah back. That happens to be the crown prince Pahlavi, the son of the former Shah of Iran. So, this flag has great significance for the Iranian people, no matter what ethnicity, region they are from, or religion. They are in unity over this. They chant it in the streets all over the country. That includes the northern Kurds all the way to the southern Baloch.
The crown prince has a detailed transition plan in place. Only if the people of Iran want the monarchy back, they will vote for it. The crown prince is promoting a secular democracy and wants to transition the country. The people want a secular country like it was before. The Iranian people are sick and tired of theocracy. They want a clear distinction between state and religion. It will be up to the people whether they want a constitutional monarchy that will be voted on by referendum. The king would not be a politician, but the protector of the people and the constitution. It will be up to a parliament/legislature to run the affairs of the country that is elected by the people.
Unfortunately, there are others that are making the rounds on Western Media. It is the MEK - the Mujahadin. Jihad is in their name. They do not represent the Iranian people. They are communist Islamists and the people do not support them. They are responsible for killing Americans and were part of the color revolution that overthrew the Shah. But the Islamists of the IRGC kicked them out once they were in power.
MEK has a lot of money and have gotten involved with people like Pence, Pompeo, and Rudi Giuliani that support them. Iran is not a Muslim country. In fact, the fastest growing religion in Iran is Christianity. The mosques have been emptying out and some have been abandoned. One only needs to view the social media posts showing mosques burning across Iran to know how the people feel about Islam - millions of them. They love the US and they really love Trump. They do not want to be governed by Islam.
