1971 @ The Fabulous Fox Theater 6th row. I was 17 and what ever it was made parts of the concert a lil' murky. Luckily the Dead recorded EVERYTHING and let anyone who wanted to have copies or could record it live. Imagine trying to get away with that now? 30 years of it is their legacy.
RIP Bobby. It is said that he spent more time on stage playing music to people than any other musician. 60 years of touring. May the four winds blow you safely home
The Grateful Dead have got to single-handedly be the most boring band of all time. Amongst all the psychedelics, dirty hippies, walls of live in concert cassette tapes, and veggie burritos all we can utter is, “oh yeah…they did that ‘touch of gray’ song”🤣🤣
The assumption you’re making - is that I don’t “Get” the Grateful Dead. That would be false. Music you have to take drugs to listen to is stupid. I guarantee you are/were a drug user. That’s fine it’s not as egregious as assuming but also picking at me for my opinion. It didn’t disagree with anyone’s opinion. I just stated my own. What I said was true. Also you don’t have sense of humor because if you don’t have a wall of cassette tapes from their live shows you never were a true fan.🤣
Saw em in 03 at Willie Nelson's 4th of July shindig. It was different than anything I've seen before or since. The 40 minute drum solo was incredible. There were people up front recording it to tape which I'd only heard about, which was kind of nice. Heck, there were even hand painted VW buses in the parking lot with all the decorations.
Thing is, is he still grateful?
I see what you did there.

If you ain’t one of “THEM” you should just be GRATEFUL to be “DED”
Why did they refer to their fans as “DED HEDS” (walking/living dead/chattle/empty vessels)
Why did they meticulously plan and structure their concerts from lighting, ambience, etc so RITUAL like?
Who supplied all the PURE lab made LSD and drugs? (Mind control/destruction of society)
The marching bears? The Skull n Bonez? The Lightning bolt? SS? Red vs Blue?
Who else employed these symbols rituals and drugs for the purpose of mind control and okultisim?
Dunno, but he’s still dead…

You either "get" the GD or you don't. I for one am glad that I "get" them. When I'm feeling down, their music can always lift my spirits. RIP Bobby.

True dat. If music needs the listener to be whacked out to be able to grok it, its not worth very much.
Just remember, none of us get out of here alive.
