Seriously?! You are pissed off because you thought you were gonna scam the American people out of more money because you have an older wife who didn't earn much and obviously did not plan for retirement on her own? So she took "her" SSA early, thinking she was gonna get a lot more just because she married you. Sorry, no sympathy.
Oh, and all this is part of the interview process that is discussed whenever someone is entitled on other accounts. If your wife ignored it or thought she was gonna outsmart the system, sorry for her.
Aa a woman who worked her entire life and PLANNED for retirement, I have no sympathy for any woman (or man) under 70 who didn't plan for her future life.
No I'm sick of people expecting the govt to foot the bill for their life style. If you are too stupid or too lazy to plan for your future, then why do you expect everyone else to do it?
I'm 68. I knew since I was in my 20;s that I needed to plan for my future and to not expect anyone else, to include my husband, to support me.
I have nothing but distain for women and men who think that the govt is supposed to take care of them in their retirement. There have been enough public service announcements throughout the years, plus all the information is available online and through your "financial planners," to know that SSA was not meant to be your sole source of income in retirement.
I have three, no four, sources of income in my retirement and not a single one of them is from my spouse.
Well good for you but many if not most Americans didn’t/don’t have that luxury. Rather they paid into SS and upon retirement want it, every last bit of it as it is their retirement and it’s the corrupt way the government is handing it back to us that pisses us off. At one point in our history the SS was intended to be American,s retirement and for many it still has to be. Absolutely everything this young lady stated is true and it’s wrong what the government does with OUR MONEY.
Plan for what f'ing future? The staggering majority of people under 30 will never even have a home to retire in, let alone afford any bootstraps to pull on and just saaaaaaaaave for that "eggnest"
Yes, I do, based on my wages. They are NOT anywhere near what would be considered high. As a matter of fact, they are only a hundred dollars over the average SSA payment, so I am not rich by any stretch of the imagination. I just planned for my future instead of keeping my fingers crossed that I would be able to live a normal.. You do realize that SSA was NOT meant to be the only source of income you were supposed to have in retirement? It was meant to be ONE THIRD of your retirement. When companies started to quit funding retirement pensions, people should have been smart enough to see the writing on the wall. You either needed to find a job that did provide a pension or increase your savings.
Social Security is the scam. Workers are literally FORCED to pay into the system, can only withdraw at the age that the system decides upon, and then if they person is still working after that age they can only withdraw a smaller amount. If people weren’t FORCED to pay into the system, they could then decide how to better manage their retirement. The stock market is a scam as well.
You're a fuckin idiot. No, they are just trying to get as much money as they can back before they die.
Them taking your money and finding any pretense to not give it back is the problem.
Any spousal this, waive that is fucked up stupid shit. Give us our God damn money.
There should bare minimum be the option to lump sum everything you have paid in (even that is you taking it in the ass). But it would force them to actually keep a clean book and only play with the fuckton of interest they can make on all that money you invest over your life.
