No it isn't. If the US chooses to spend over a $trillion on defense that is a problem of its own making. However, they have committed to pay that much on defense by 2035. Not NATO: Defense. It is a promise made to NATO but the money does not go to NATO.
NATO's running costs are around $4.1 billion and the US pays about 16% of that.
In 2024, the US spent $967 billion on defense - about 3.4% of its GDP which is more than the 2% it committed to.
USA spends so much more to defense than other NATO countries because other NATO countries are freeloaders and parasites who have never paid their fair share and never will.
Doesn't matter, Europe is a freeloading parasite that has never paid its fair share of NATO. They also would never help the USA if the USA was attacked. The USA should leave NATO and stop paying defense of those parasites, I don't care if Russia conquers Europe, at least that would save Europe from becoming 3rd world Islamic shithole.

Not true. NATO agreed to 2% of GDP until this most recent change. Some countries spent the agreed amount - the UK, for instance.
