I really think this is getting blown out of proportion. The idea was originally put forward by a financial analyst years ago while she was still working for the Bank of England. She specifically worked on stress tests for the bank, which all central banks do. Only now has she decided to mention it, but she didn't say that much other than as a hypothetical event. The problem is that now her simple statement has taken on a life of its own as if it were some kind of disclosure announcement. Her job involved helping design stress tests to cover any and all possible events that could possibly threaten stability so they could develop contingencies. It is not the event itself that is a threat. It is the reactions of people that causes problems for the system. Their job is to think of any and all things that could possibly happen. Aliens was simply a hypothetical scenario - nothing more.
