I thought we weren't a democracy?

Seriously, whenever libs talk about President Trump is going to be the end to our Democracy, people rush to say that we're not a Democracy, we're a Republic and how mob rule shouldn't be accepted...

So, we're just ignoring that here? Are we a Republic when libs start boohooing about President Trump ruining our democracy, but a democracy when protestors are interfering with ICE?

Can someone make me a flowchart or something to help me keep track of when we're a Democracy vs when we're a Republic?
