Triple X-class flares in the last 48hrs (There was a X1.6, just hours ago). There is already plasma out there, which increases the 'pressure' of what's coming. However, this one has launched so that it will 'clip' us briefly. The X8 is maybe the biggest in the sequence, or it isn't, which means another, possibly much bigger one is coming... And the sunspot has been growing. Stefan points out that the 'flares' can skip the scale X100, thus two whole categories on a logarithmic scale. The X8 is part of a trend of exponential jumps, since Feb 1.
The problem is that sunspot is about to rotate towards Earth. And it's active and shows signs of getting stronger. Also, we have not experienced Carrington Event n our 'technological' age.
