My dogs follow them as well. There used to be a bunch in my yard, living under my garage/shed. I stapled wire fencing around the bottom (was lifted off the ground about 1 ft), dug a trench, and buried the bottom of the fence a foot in the ground with the pointy end of the wire looping back up so the dogs couldn't dig. The rabbits somehow fit through the squares and would be safe from the dogs.
Well - the rabbits liked to come out at night. The dogs worked together, trapped them, and ate them. Six months ago they were all gone. I finally saw one again today. We'll see how long that lasts. Honestly I was pissed, because I wanted the rabbits there in case the SHTF and I needed food. The dogs could have the moles, but no - they like rabbits.
