I think it all gets back to incentives for the politicians and corruption. When there’s so much money in the welfare system - let’s call it the “welfare-industrial system “ - then they have an incentive to increase that business and do it as quickly as they can before people catch on or before it runs out of money.

It's systemic. Big government with endless stream of money. The more you spend on anything the more you get,poverty, homelessness, immigration, fraud etc
They've actually sucked the teat so dry that it killed the cow. Now they resort to regularly scheduled "mysterious" wildfires for so they can request Emergency Gubmint funds, 10x Billions on high speed trains that have only a few hundred yards completed and crippling tax rates on the working class.
