Sorry for the late (and possibly irrelevant) comment, but one thing that’s concerned me for a while is that several of the Founding Fathers were Masons. Notably, George Washington himself was a Master Mason. Would this mean America has been compromised from the very beginning? Not trying to doom but I personally found it unsettling.
Not to worry. It’s Something I’ve given thought to before as well. Many of the Founding Fathers were either confirmed Masons, Suspected Masons, related to Masons, or Close Friends with Masons. Several were in other societies aside from Free Masonry.
I’d be willing to bet. The Enlightenment, and subsequently the spread of the philosophical ideals that would later lay the groundwork for the modern notions of Republicanism and Democracy was more or less largely the product of Secret Societies. Too many thinkers and philosophers involved narrowly avoided Death on too many occasions to not suggest they didn’t have forewarning from men on the inside. And some of their philosophical points are Eerily reminiscent of the Theology and points of the societies.
I’m getting off topic. Anywho. If the font was poisoned from the word go. The slow walk and ‘By the Book’ obsession makes more sense. If the objective is to preserve the credibility of philosophical and political ideas who might find their legitimacy called into question. As the U.S was founded as a Republic and the oath the military took is to protect and defend the Constitution. So it makes sense they’d focus around preserving those ideas.

Regardless of their origin
