Although the signal is nice ... and would support the idea of current laptops running more efficient and thus a longer service life ....

The fact is: moving to linix from windooooz is actually quite easy. You just have to do it. Choose freedom instead of propriety blackboxes.

if on windows: install WSL, and then install KDE6. Login via wayland.
if on windows: download MXLinux. Create liveCD. restart + F12
if on windows and you have virtualization: download MXLinux, and virtualize.
find someone to teach you the ropes.
