And of course, Ehud Barak is right in the middle of all of the happenings, as the leading member of the Left wing Labor party. Neither he nor Epstein wanted any more of the 'wrong kind of Jews' coming to Israel - those that care about the meaning of the Scripture, or doing what is right.
