I imagine the women are caught in a hard place: Even if they wanted to go, they would be socially ostracized. Pretty much all of female social media is on the side of women Olympians, cheering them on, and for them to attend the state of the Union would make them instant patiahs forever.
That's right blame them to be honest. If they aren't huge fans of Trump then why take the hit. Obviously the men made the correct choice but, I really can't blame someone who may not be a Trump supporter to go and socially outcast themselves over it

They don't want to go because most of their support is from LGBTQetc.
It's cowardly of them not to go. They could have provided a good role model for young female athletes, but no - gotta pander instead.
