I don't know if we need an Ark today, but we'd be fools to not be thinking seriously about the potential problem of AI danger, and how we might mitigate it.
It's possible that we CANNOT mitigate it in time . . . the fact is, not every disaster can be avoided. Not every danger can be foreseen. Time IS a factor.
I certainly don't have an answer.
But I do know that only taking the danger (which a great many IN THE FIELD OF AI now believe is existential in nature) seriously do we stand a chance of defusing it in time.
