As others already noted, OP, your view is quite limited. This particular "WAR" has been going on since 1978 when the REGIME decided to take hostage the embassy of the US and the people working there.
For all intends and purposes, that is an act of war.
President Peanut tried to do something about it, and that operation went horribly wrong. Why? Interesting rabbit hole.
And, there is a difference between open ended war acts and precise surgical strikes to effect an outcome.
Compare with how Trump operates. See the difference?
Then keep that front and center.
