I would recommend a maximum of 7 days of fasting. A relatively healthy person can die at about 45 days. As witnessed by the Irish IRA members who went on a hunger strike in prison.

Fasting does two things that I know of: denying cancer the carbs it craves and it resets the immune system to good. After 3 days the hunger pretty much goes away. I used to wrestle.
