There's a Military Airlift Command airfield at NAVSTA Rota that we don't need permission to use because we already use it. NAVSTA Rota is a joint US-Spain military base that houses the Spanish military as well as th US Navy, USMC, US Army, USAF, and a few USCG cutters/help squadrons.
We routinely send over squadrons from the USAF and USN/USMC for routine training with Spain's pilots, as well as other partner nation's from NATO. We also use it as a stopping point when sending planes over to the ME.
So, there has to be another reason why he's doing this. Like maybe pointing out NATO's and EU's hypocrisy, or maybe driving a wedge further between freedom loving nations and the Socialist infested EU nations.
