Pumpkin, 24K is very soft like you said, 14K isn't . This really remind me about Nebuchadnezzar golden statue.

10k would be even better. That gold is used a lot in wedding rings so they don't get damaged. It is harder than 14k.
I generally use 18 but yes, 10K would be even harder.
