That is actually starting to be the theory I support, of the ones I have seen as to why Candace would be doing what she is now doing unless there might actually be some sort of substance to her claims.

But the timelines - and her behavior - fit so very well the "jealousy" theory. She met Charlie first, then he meets the blonde, Candace leaves his organization when the two get hitched and fast finds herself a man and gets married - almost as if trying to prove she would not have been pissed he chose somebody else anyway.

And the moment he gets killed she goes after the widow, as if she might have restrained herself before because being friends or apparent friends with a man who was said to be a rising star in American politics, maybe even a potential future presidential candidate, was potentially too beneficial to HER career to risk it.

But after his death the widow was not, so, high school style, the mean girl queen bee now goes for the kill, in a very high school fashion, by trying to ruin her rival's reputation and social standing by spreading malicious gossip about her. >:D
