The thing about what is happening in Iran is that it is completely obvious now that if Iran had been allowed to continue what they had been doing, they WOULD have developed nuclear weapons and the WOULD have used them, and with missile technology, wouldn't have hesitated to launch one or more at U.S. mainland. What is happening in Iran now should have happened decades ago, but perhaps the most recent military weaponry makes it safer for U.S. and Israeli forces. The 100,000 or so Iran military members may be a problem to deal with down the road, and of course, the unknown millions of civilians who sympathize with the hardline Muslim rule.
Some of us are old enough to remember the same exact playbook being used now from Iraq. Infinite "trust me bro" being used to justify just about everything. Why is it that we never get to see even a snippet of evidence they use to justify all of this?
Well, they definitely were developing nuclear weapons. Those sites were bombed, but the question remained regarding whether they were completely demolished. Even so, they would have eventually resumed their nuclear program. Would it have been possible within a few years? Probably not. Possible in another ten? Probably likely.

I heard that justification for Iraq.
