China was already taking about 90% of Iran's oil shipments and getting it on the cheap. China and Iran have been busy over the years at creating alternative routes for the shipment of that oil so as to not depend on getting it through Straight of Hormuz. The pipeline port at Jask is just one example. So yes, Trump is not cutting off China's oil. But I also think that Trump's statement was a coded message to Xi that he knows about those alternative routes and is not doing anything at this time to stop it - but don't push me.
