According to whom? I think it is in fact far, far less than that. For example, instead of the 1.4B in China according to the official tally (where we know they are lying), the real number is likely half of that (at 600M?). (Also here.) The world population birth rate has been below replacement for most of the world (everywhere outside of Africa) for almost 60 years. In fact, I can't find a single piece of evidence that suggests the real population is more than ~8B, and tons of evidence in every sector that it is in fact way less than it appears across the board.
