No matter how much you conserve, update and have only energy efficient lights and appliances but electric bills are more then double. 4 years ago electric at .09 vents or less. Now .18 per kw. And every month for the last 4 years tge rate has increased.
IMHO it’s the smart meters and the billing bucket being shared for all the commercials that they gave incentives to.
You need to take away the smart meter. I have my smart meter for 3 months and found the bills double. I took out the smart meter and pay an extra 20 for bill reading and my bill dropped by half.
If you have a smart meter, the energy supplier can charge different rates throughout the day. They will tell you how cheap electricity is overnight, for instance.
What they are not so up-front about is the fact that they might charge you triple the average rate at breakfast time and tea time. As people use the most electricity at peak times (how could they not?) most people could well see their bills increase.
