Personally -- I think the universities should be required to repay 25% to 50% of all student loans because they overcharged them in the first place. AND they should reimburse the same amount to those students whose accounts are paid in full.
Yes -- there is a lot of procrastination on the repayment of those loans. I realize that. But that still doesn't alter the fact that those schools are sitting on huge piles of money like dragons hoarding gold while young people can barely launch a successful life. And I won't even go into all the degrees in totally useless things they encouraged these poor kids to get.
Considering these places have become cesspools of communism -- letting them take the financial hit would be a plus too.

Plus, schools should really be honest on trades. I know a guy who was making 6 figures after 5 years out of high school.
Oh, and teaching ethics and personal responsability would help too.
Make religious colleges religious again.
