Same here in east central MO. You don't have to guess when some serious weather is on the way the sky will be hazy with patchwork stitching horizon to horizon.
We were outside last week raking and burning leaves, sticks etc. The sky was blue with no clouds until they started spraying on one half of the sky. Then when finished, we watched them start spraying the other half. This was around 11:30, by 3, the whole sky was solid white with no blue showing through.

I would think you got plenty of downfall to tend to. Storms have hammered Missouri south of Ste. Genevieve this winter.
