Looks like I might have been wrong, J1D. I remember seeing some info about them being painted over. That was probably a year or more ago, and it had happened prior to that, so I was thinking they had been painted maybe 3 years ago. However, I just did a search to see when they were actually painted and according to A!, the have not been painted over, they have been "removed and put in storage" with the expectation that they will be brought out again at some point. So that's weird too. Now I don't know what to believe. Sorry if I mislead folks and sorry I couldn't give a more definitive answer. The murals are creepy af, but I always thought they served a purpose in that they HAD to get people who saw them up close and personal to question what the heck they were seeing. So in that way, it might actually work to wake more people up. The whole Denver Airport mystique is so bizarre.

It's probably just me, but when I was looking for that info earlier, I came across a wiki page that was very long and seemed to go into in depth biblical interpretation of each of those murals and weird symbols. I didn't have time to read it, I only skimmed it, thinking I would go back later and look at it again. Now I can't find it! No matter how I word the search, it won't come up. Very strange.
I’d imagine Smuggling is going to be a big one. Likely via Airline, and Airport staff as they aren’t always subjected to the same screenings as the general population. Probably some TSA guys as well. Especially in areas with immigrant heavy populations.
Espionage will likely be a close second. Given many Airports also include Hangers and Facilities for the Feds, State and Local Law Enforcement as well as the Military. As well as major Aircraft manufacturers
pretty sure trafficking happens via air travel, on a 1x1 scale, like a grown ass man traveling with a young kid, meeting up with another grown ass man, making the sale AT the airport, kid traveling on with the buyer.
You wouldn't think twice, you're trying to make your flight, trying to find your stupid gate, trying to keep track of your shiz, but when you see 2 grown ass men standing there with a small girl who looks scared, and you know how sick these people are, it COULD be trafficking in plain sight.
TSA wouldn't notice anything they have a hard time seeing knives and bombs in bags WITH an x-ray machine, but ICE might notice something like that.
And apparently, the people traveling are loving the ICE agents. This is great PR as well as being helpful in keeping things moving.
