Only about 23% of Americans between 17-25 qualify to be drafted. Everyone else is either too fat, mentally ill, IQ low enough they couldn’t even qualify for a ASVAB waiver, or has some other disqualifying condition. Or alternatively has a criminal record. Though that number was last calculated several years ago. So it likely has dropped since then. So statistically speaking her child likely wouldn’t qualify medically unless they dramatically lowered standards.
That is supposing she actually has a son. As again supposing the PFP is up to date. I’d guess late 30s and early 40s. And stats for that age point towards an increasing percentage being single and childless.
And that’s not even considering the older men and bitter veterans who are complaining about the possibility of being recalled or drafted. As statistically most of them also wouldn’t qualify for service anymore for one or more reasons.
It does not, however, take into account the number of menopausal women who have expressed interest in a combat role. They seem to be quite adamant; they just want to shoot somebody. In other news, I may belong to the wrong book club.
