Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
That's part of the problem. The other part is the Christians who focus more on "don'ts" than the "dos", constantly attacking others with negativity rather than focusing on helping their communities and showing love to the vulnerable.
Matthew 25:31-46 ESV
[31] βWhen the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. [32] Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. [33] And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. [34] Then the King will say to those on his right, βCome, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. [35] For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, [36] I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.β [37] Then the righteous will answer him, saying, βLord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? [38] And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? [39] And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?β [40] And the King will answer them, βTruly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.β [41] βThen he will say to those on his left, βDepart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. [42] For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, [43] I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.β [44] Then they also will answer, saying, βLord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?β [45] Then he will answer them, saying, βTruly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.β [46] And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.β
I cant get past the turn the other cheek, peace at all costs, victim mentality.. if bad stuff happens - "God's plan", regardless if its because of your inaction.. the "Jesus take the wheel" crowd..
"Christians β¦ love all men, and are persecuted by all. They are unknown and condemned; they are put to death, and restored to life. They are poor, yet make many rich; they are in lack of all things, and yet abound in all; they are dishonored, and yet in their very dishonor are glorified. They are evil spoken of, and yet are justified; they are reviled, and bless; they are insulted, and repay the insult with honor; they do good, yet are punished as evil-doers. When punished, they rejoice as if quickened into life. They are assailed by the Jews as foreigners, and are persecuted by the Greeks; yet those who hate them are unable to assign any reason for their hatred. (ch. 5)
Don't you see them exposed to wild beasts for the purpose of persuading them to deny the Lord, yet they are not overcome? Don't you see that the more of them that are punished, the greater the number of the rest becomes? This does not seem to be the work of man. This is the power of God. These are the evidences of his appearance. (ch. 7)
When you despise that which is considered to be death here, then you shall fear what is truly death, which is reserved for those who shall be condemned to the eternal fire, which shall afflict to the end those that are committed to it. Then shall you admire those who for righteousness' sake endure the fire that is but for a moment, and you shall count them happy when you understand that fire. (ch. 10)"
Amen, better to be hot or cold than lukewarm. Being lukewarm gives a distorted view of what Christianity is and can confuse new believers who are not rooted in His Word.
