15% ethanol will effect ALL drivers. The materials used in automobile fuel systems cannot withstand the high ethanol count in modern fuel. It causes the breakdown of any rubber and neoprene fuel lines as well as any rubber used elsewhere in the engine, causes them to separate and transfer "gum" throughout the engine, depositing that gum, and also separates from the fuel under high heat. That separation also causes rust to form inside the engine, reduces burn efficiency of the fuel, causing the engine to work harder. It can also hydro lock an engine. Once that happens, the engine is toast. It can be fixed, but with today's engines, it's often cheaper to replace it than to fix the hydro locked engine. The same if it ends up gummed up.
This is why small engine utility machine like lawn mowers, weed eaters, and chain saws will only last about 2 years if 10% ethanol is used in them. Most auto engines of all sizes and types will only last 5 years before experiencing major combustion related issues.
Unless modern fuel systems are changed to reflect the addd ethanol, and none of them have been, we'll start seeing more and more issues in our vehicles. And with the shortage of certified and experienced technicians (due to the dealerships and manufacturers unwillingness to pay the technicians what they're worth), more and more auto owners are going to be paying more in unnecessary repair/replacement costs.
We want petroleum. NOT alky grown by WASTING farmland on growing corn for it - AND Heavily Subsidizing it, because it can't stand on it's own two feet.
This is bullshit... and politics are DEFINITELY involved.
NOT ONLY the SEALS and other such parts BUT THE ENGINE ITSELF will NOT be able to take the EXTREME HEAT GENERATED by the burning of ethanol and the ENGINE COMPARTMENT WILL BE EXTEMELY HOT ALONG WITH THE PASSENGER CABIN!!!!!!!!!
Unless the HEAT can be sloughed off be ready for HOT CABINS!!!!!!!
I thought I was all done with rebuilding carbs... maybe once in a while... okay... but EVERY YEAR?
Nasty crystalized boogers in the bowl, main jets clogged with it AND it doesn't stay mixed - it separates AND it seperates into layers - gasoline, alky, water - 3 distinct layers.
Don't believe me? Decant some into a mason jar and let it sit...

Or...or ... you can spend $30/gal at the homo gazebo for "ethanol free" gas to run your Wacker...or go to the race track and buy 108/116...and huff the delicious fumes...mmmm deelish
I was just watching X22 from yesterday and saw Trump releasing E10 and some States refusing it. I came here to search being I'm wondering Why TF we're not getting rid of ethanol fuel period. Can keep it as an option but straight gas needs to be an option at the pump again.
Edit: That's not the video I came across but same procedure. The one I'd found dude had a nice stand he used and I think a glass water bottle.
Why TF we're not getting rid of ethanol fuel period.
My guess is that it's tied to farm subsidies and it's keeping a certain contingent working albeit via the govt teet - and that decision may also be political in the sense that it's a token to steer grassley, when required.
Gotta remember... we're dealing with mis/non-diagnosed swamp creatures that thrive on stupid games and prizes...
I have a VW and the service guy told me use Lucas Oil Treatment along with Seafoam-half & half!!!!!
Every fill-up I poured the mixture into the gas tank...what that does the Seafoam cleans the injectors and the Lucas Oil Treatment coats the upper piston chamber walls. I drove that VW thang to 250,000 miles where it died on the way into the VW parking LOT!!!!!! I kid you not!!!!!!!! AND I USE SHELL MID-RANGE GAS!!!!!!
Big oil pushed corn fuel out close to a century ago. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER IF THEY DIDN'T!!! Ethanol is cleaner and cooler burning. They wouldn't have had the problems with carbon and pinging that hurts the pistons and valves. It would make easily as much power as gasoline, just with about double the amount of fuel. It was much cheaper to grow and process than petroleum, so cost wouldn't have been an issue. I'm a mechanic of 40+ years and say this: They've got us where it's gonna hurt...

Is this another way they are trying to remove any non computer controlled machines/ vehicles from private ownership.
We all know every new vehicle is “connected”, can be remotely controlled and switched off if you don’t have enough good boy points.
The whole thing is fking stupid.

That separation though makes it easy to free the ethanol from gas.
I came across this a couple years ago but never got around to trying it.
Quite involved for a DD but easy enough for small engines.
