Good cheap cars are all but gone thanks to "Cash For Clunkers" program. They all got traded in and sent straight to scrap, limiting the availability of good used parts in the junkyards. The new cars that replaced those are now nearing the end of their entire useful life making them a higher liability joyfully coupled with higher purchase price for the next guy.
