I know the feeling. It’s like a Black Mirror episode. I never get on my phone in public places, waiting areas, events, etc. When you get into this habit you really observe how automaton people really are. Smart watches are the worst. I cringe when I’m talking to someone and they constantly glance at their smartwatch, then in the same beat act like they are giving their full attention. Let’s not get started in earbuds!
Very rarely do you catch the vibe of someone else doing the same thing. When you do, don’t forget to smile at them, they’re one of us.
Agreed. A huge awakening for me as to how unaware people are was about 15 years ago. We were on our honeymoon in Mexico. After a long day of excursions we were riding back to the resort in a passenger van with a guide and about 6 other people. Everyone but me, my spouse and one other man kept our eyes open. I mean come on. How could anyone fall asleep in a situation like that?
And to add to the comment, we make sure we instill situational awareness with our children. We’ve had grown adults make comment they would put my 11 year old in charge if they were ever in a survival situation.

Two of the best weapons we have are Discernment and Situational Awareness.
People can't be self-aware when they are not aware at all!
