Our president has been saying some pretty wild things lately.

But there's a reason for that. Not only are he and his family personally threatened 24/7, I think the nation itself and all of us with it are threatened, too, if he doesn't play along at least some of the time.

What could they do to us if he refuses? A short list:

starting more big fires in suburban areas (very easy to do, extremely destructive and very hard to put out)

taking down parts of the power grid, just here and there

something toxic in a city water supply

pulling the plug on some airport radar

sabotaging airplanes or bridges or dams

even a suitcase nuke or dirty bomb is not out of the question at all

There's really no limit to what they could try. The fires seem to be their destruction of choice, with as terrifying as those fires are and the amount of devastation they cause. And it costs nothing to set a few of them simultaneously up on the mountains outside a city.

Trump lives with this every minute of every day. Occasionally he might have to cave to shut them up and save the rest of us. I remember when he talked up the COVID shots some years back and everyone sneered at him for changing his mind/backing off/TACOing -

except for those of us who thought about it for two minutes and realized he would never say such garbage unless he was trying to protect himself and his family and all of our families, too.

The monsters who make these threats just delight in it, because it's one of the few forms of control over him that they have. They are really really really hoping it will turn his base against him and make him look stupid and crazy in front of the world.

Oooh, then maybe then they can 25th him and make his allies turn against him too!!!

He is neither stupid nor crazy and we know this.

There are other ways besides taking up arms to defend your people. Sometimes it means having to look a little crazy in front of the world, when someone makes an offer you can't refuse -- but who gives a fuck if it saves Phoenix, Arizona or Johnsonville, Tennessee from being "accidentally" torched.

Obvious ploy is obvious. Don't fall for it. Please.
