As explained by analyst Zsuzsanna Végh in a publication of the European Council on Foreign Relationsthe foreign policy vision that Tisza proposes is disruptive when compared to the the state in which of recent years in Budapest. “But its principles – loyalty to the EU and NATO, good neighborly relations and responsibility towards Hungarian minorities abroad – are not revolutionary,” he stresses. They are, in reality, simple European orthodoxy
Read that again ..... EU, NATO all of a sudden have become: sacrosanct as a matter of course. And if this guy want to unlock Billions retain by EU, then it follows that this country will be overrun by asylum seekers.
A former Orban ally, going the opposite direction.
i don't think that's going to happen to be quite honest.
First of all, the 'analyst' is from an EU thinktank. Expensive Bullshit.
Hungarians want to remain in the EU. Of course they do. They know by now after 16 years of Orban (thank God) that their seat there, is a powerful opposition voice, that needs to remain there. Furthermore, the Russian pipeline WILL be opened again. No doubt about that. That's the economy stupid.
Second, I see Magyar as conservative, and therefore well-versed and mindful of the Orban principles. It is just that he could not abide the corruption, and the bungling opposition, any longer. By making a conservative opposition to a conservative party, he is able to shed the 'old'.
I think he is seen as capable.
Whether he is going to be a knife in the underbelly of the EU that Orban is loved for, we shall see. Magyar already has a track record of that sort of behaviour, in the nicest possible way.
EU in the current climate, is not going to provide the pent up Euros. On the other hand, it is perfectly feasible that the US strategy (NSS) bears fruit, as a deal to get something else.
hmmmmm .
