Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Rules For the rest of the Site also accessible on the sidebar.

Sorry for being negative, but I think that putting Riley Gaines down like that was bad optics. She's championing the cause of kicking trannies out of women's sports, which Trump agrees with, but because she made a comment about that dumb Jesus pic, Trump put her down. I didn't really catch what that meme was about, but anytime there's a comparison of Trump to Jesus it raises everyone's hackles, on both the right and the left. I like what he's doing, but that sort of stuff is bad optics. AFAIK, Gaines hasn't been highly critical of Trump like others have.
Am I missing anything? Has she been dooming about Iran or something? Putting people down for slightly disagreeing with him feeds the "Trump is a narcissist" narratie.
I think its not as big a deal as you are thinking.
The picture itself, while everyone kept saying its Jesus, was really about healing. In anycase here is the sequence (based on very basic search):
When asked about the post on April 13, Trump disputed he was trying to compare himself to Jesus. "I thought it was me as a doctor," the president told reporters at the White House. "It's supposed to be me as a doctor making people better, and I do make people better."
Later that day:
Donald Trump is the first man to secure the Southern border since the Comanche. For decades, "securing the border" was just a campaign slogan that politicians recycled every four years. But with the current administration’s 2026 mandates bringing illegal crossings to a dead halt, Trump has achieved something no American leader has managed in over a century. In fact, to find a historical precedent for this level of total territorial control, you have to look past the pundits and go back to the Comanche. Everyone's arguing about who's going to secure the Southern border. Politicians, pundits, generals, governors — all very worked up about it. The Comanches would like a word. For about 150 years, from roughly 1700 onward, the Comanche ran the most effective immigration policy the Southern Plains ever saw. No wall needed. No legislation. No congressional hearings. Just horsemanship so terrifying that Spanish colonial expansion essentially stopped, Mexican settlers stayed south, and Apache tribes relocated their entire existence to get away from them. Comancheria — their territory — stretched across what is now Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and Kansas. It wasn't a border. It was a fact. The Spanish tried diplomacy. The Mexicans tried treaties. Everyone tried something. The Comanche tried nothing, because they didn't have to. They were already home, already dominant, and already not interested. It took the U.S. Army, the collapse of the buffalo herds, and decades of relentless attrition to finally end it. So next time someone says the border has never been secured — technically correct. But it was secured once. Beautifully. Ruthlessly. Just not by anyone currently in the argument.

Galatians 2:20.
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
