Despite the gaslighting, I would say in every state, the only democrats are public servants, NGO members, illegal aliens, “legal” immigrants and welfare parasites.
Not one single working person is a democrat.
That means they are at best 20% of the vote. The rest is cheating and rigging the elections.
They used to be 33%, with 10% hard core left. Now it’s 20% like you said with 15% hard core lefties.
In the past they only had to fool half the independents and cheat a little. Now they have to fool half of the independents, some of their own and cheat a lot.
And Independents (who make up ~40% of voters) who don't vote cleanly with either party.
Everything isn't split only between democrats and Republicans.

This is a copy pasta from a comment I made a few days ago, but VERY relevant here:
It really happens and they are vicious! You must be an outsider with no family and no questionable history to run.
Local guy that I know personally ran for Town Council as a Republican. He won no problem since this small town here in New England are children of 3rd generation mill workers and mostly blue collar.
After several successful years on the TC, this guy decided to run for state rep. Suddenly the incumbent dem is cherry picking "Far right" decisions the Republican guy made on the TC and taking out whole page ads saying he's a loose cannon. The smear campaign didn't work and the polls still showed the Republican way ahead.
The incumbent mustered up help from his fellow Dems at the state house and suddenly they "need" to redraw (gerrymander) the district lines to shove the republican into a different district 6 months before the election.
The Republican is determined to stay in the race, so he decided to rent a small apartment downtown (and officially changed his address) since his actual house was only a 1/4 mile from the town border.
He points out their dirty tricks in his campaign ads and somehow he loses the election by less than 200 votes.
Later on, his marriage falls apart, his local business is hit with odd legal problems and his "perspective" on town matters change.
I'm pretty sure he was blackmailed as he doesn't even respond to my concerns / comments anymore.
It seems that he could use a friend, maybe not so much a constituent. :)
