It seems to me like they needed POTUS to remain crouched low and surrounded by a cocoon of SS agents. I'm sure they had to make sure they were carefully covering his exit path. Also, if I'm not mistaken, FLOTUS was by his side at least for the first part of that extraction. On the other hand VP Vance was able to walk out standing up - less security, goes much quicker. I'm sure by protocol they had PDJT and VPJDV heading in opposite directions and didn't determine which direction until the incident started unfolding (to avoid insider traitors having location info for any potential extraction operations) - ergo spending extra moments ensuring POTUS's exit path was safe. Just mho.
