I remember driving through Vermont during the 200 Birthday in 1976 to go skiing, and seeing all the fire hydrants painted Red, White and Blue. That was cool.

yes! in California, when they had a Japanese-American Republican Senator, based, some fire hydrants were painted like miniature people as Continental soldiers
