The CCP's horrible treatment of mainland Chinese citizens and of Hong Kong citizens who were promised "One country, two systems" does not bode well for the citizens of Taiwan under CCP "governance."
I hope the CCP is overthrown or completely reformed, but I don't really think that's likely.

Yeah, but the problem is not just specific to Taiwan. You can argue that Chinese citizens themselves are equally, if not more oppressed.
I think CCP will cleaned out and after that it would be a negotiation between two equal parties based on the merits.
