That second video is a little clearer. It looks like the lower plane tilted the right wing up at the exact wrong moment as the upper plane was coming in exactly over it. (Or the upper plane was supposed to tip up it's right wing and didn't). Mighty damn quick reflexes of those pilots to eject -- God was watching over them.
Bigtime $$ lost in that crash, yes, but the most valuable assets -- those amazing pilots -- were not harmed and in the end that's what matters most. I've been to several of those airshows (decades ago) and would encourage anyone who's never been to attend if they have the opportunity to do so. "Impressive" doesn't describe the maneuvers these pilots perform -- awe-inspiring is more like it. Yes, occasionally mistakes are made and these types of incidents occur, but the margin of error is so slim it's a wonder they don't occur more often.
