You are correct although thyroid nodules are still fairly common and there are other causes listed. I put table salt on my table salt because our arteries need to "harden the fuck up" so Iodine deficiency is probably not causative for me.
If I was to guess I would say it was a reaction to the copious amounts aluminum in spray-on underarm deodorants (which I don't touch anymore) causing chronic inflammation. My old shirts have ballistic armor in the underarms, it's insane and a fairly obvious attack vector by the pedovores, bordering on sloppy.
Goiters are from iodine deficiency. They used to be fairly common until iodine was put into salt.
