Without the far left, the U.S. would naturally be producing 30-50% more oil, it would have a larger and more efficient refining network, and a robust export surplus. All of these would help lower costs and cushion the U.S. from supply shocks. And also, yes, there are the massive taxes.
Unfortunately at lot worse. Now they have to import refined oil products from foreign countries at much higher prices than what they were producing themselves. The result of insane green policies in overdrive.
I guess that they don't see the stickers on the pumps that show you state and local taxes on fuel.
But the policies on drilling and refining have definitely made things worse..

Chevron may close their last California refinery because of the policies.
I imagine the cost of operating the refineries has been driven way up.
