Apparently, the 87000 figure was a projection to be accomplished over a ten-year period (through to 2031). Also, not simply agents but apparently total staffing.

Source? Reportedly a 2021 Treasury Department proposal linked to the Inflation Reduction Act.

They never got there. A net increase of 20,000 personnel during the Biden administration. Around 6000 of these were agents.

It's a cute meme, but not factually accurate or correct.
