My father had been privy to much information like this when he served in Europe right after the war. He was attached to a top Air Force General assigned to post war reconstruction efforts and dealing with the Soviet threat, but the general had been there during the war.
Years afterwards, aspects of what my father knew still bothered him, but he never talked many specifics. I have no doubt he continued to be troubled till the day he passed. Much of what he knew passed with him. Maybe he would have talked about them more if he had lived long enough. I was only 19 when he died. It had only been about 30 years since the end of the war. The secrecy still held. The camps and what he witnessed there really tore him and it haunted him. He did speak of what he knew and saw concerning them. He was a very young man from the Midwest that was suddenly confronted by the horrors of war. That was the case with many of our brave fighting men and women in that brutal war. It has to be traumatic.
He did tell me that all kinds of crazy and sad things happen during war - some things that never see the light of day. It's hard to comprehend - normal boundaries are bent if not broken all together. It is war. It is ugly. It is brutal.
This many years later, it has been long enough. There cannot be that many still alive that were even there - if any. These brave soldiers need to be remembered and their stories told. Thanks for sharing.
Just after midnight, a convoy of eight tank landing ships, packed with men, trucks and fuel, was crawling across Lyme Bay in a long slow line. Out in the dark, nine German E-boats had slipped in from Cherbourg, and they could not believe what they were seeing. The convoy was nearly defenseless.
Knowing what we know now about how the Cabal works, someone must have deliberately leaked the information to the Germans.
Slapton Sands. The reason the E Boat pack found them as there was no naval cover supplied by the Royal Navy, there should have been 3 frigates and some MTB's guarding the boats, but they were needed elsewhere.
Geez. My grandfather participated in the landing and never told me, even after I held a T.S/SCII clearance. And I've read a bunch of books on the landing written after '74 that don't mention this. Wow!!!

Yes, I can imagine that happening...
Mark Felton did a good video on this.

What an awful story. So sad for those men and their families.
Yes!

A big disgraceful blot on the history of the RN.

Thanks for the info!!!
I can understand the reasoning behind the silence! Someone should have been held accountable but that was Ike in charge, huh?
My uncle served in Germany during WWII. He said he was told that, in the winter, Eisenhower would have an aide warm up the toilet seat for him.
It's good to be king!
