Northern Ireland is a part of the United Kingdom, which is the nation comprised of England Wales Scotland and Northern Ireland. Great Britain is an island which contains England Wales and Scotland (but not Northern Ireland).
My main question, which i didn't express very well, really is.......Do the lawmakers in London make laws for Ireland? Does Ireland have its own independent Parliment, completely separate from that of the politicians in London?

Thanks for clarifying. I knew that but wrote GB instead of the UK.
