Yeah when you stop making original and interesting movies and tv shows people tune out. Same thing is happening with video games. At least with AI independent studios are making fun cheap games while Rockstar and Bethesda have sat on GTA 6 and Elder Scrolls 6 for 10+ years.
Two major reasons which they could fix but won't:
LA City regulations make it very difficult and expensive to shoot there.

Elon Musk and a few other wealthy people could save LA. Put up a $5 Billion film fund that matches other money. Start a new streaming service that is American made films only. Scrap ALL woke/DEI bullshit. California introduces a film tax credit system that has a cap of $50 million per film. Green light labour intensive productions. Job creations take off and there is a new beacon of job paying jobs in LA and surrounding areas. Prohibit all gouging, opportunism & monopolistic practice, that has plagued LA in the past. The film fund is repaid through all FILM exploitation and share value increase in the new Streaming Co. They could even property speculate and make more money on the increase of property values with people returning. LA weather is magnificent. There are few places on Earth that match LA's weather.
