They are hell bent on driving all business out of the state as well as those citizens that have the ability to leave. All so they can continue to pay for their illegals and NGO grift.
However, those left behind don't pay the bills. They only extract from the system regardless of loyalty. Like all socialist operations, sooner or later they run out of other people's money. Even loyal leftists are being forced out simply because the math no longer works.
"The name of the Rose" by Umberto Eco is a classic piece of literature. It is set during the Inquisition (so medieval), and it describes a particularly daunting abbey that oppresses the surrounding countryside, literally the peasants are starving around them to feed the monks.
The book describes how laughter was banned within the monastery, and that there was a labyrinthian secret library, where all the banned books were hidden.
Oh and there are a series of murders that need solving...
Anyway, if you cannot be bothered with reading the most excellent page-turner, which I binge-read when it came out, back in the eighties, there was a film made starring Sean Connery as a Franciscan monk (who take a vow of poverty, so in effect, incorruptible) who was travelling around and finds himself at that abbey.
Yeah..... Laws containing vague enough language encompassing everything, and weaponizing the court system, and stifling innovation and freedom.
Dutch tax law just encompassed D.-A.-O.-structures. And the most important of course is anything with a connection to The Netherlands.
Whatever that may be. But... If their previous behavior is any indication, like expanding into meaninglessness the term: "metterwoon", i.e. those who emigrated, literally with the homestead, now you cannot even call your friend or mother, as it means a connection and that means you really did not leave. Or how about defining who is an entrepreneur by listing what such a person has to do and how much money it needs to spent on it. Or how about a gains tax on equity: if the asset rises in price you have tax liability of 36%, if it decreases, well, bad luck, Chummy, no deduction.
So, now you have to sell assets in order to pay tax.
Crazy does not even begin to describe what this is
As the Roman Cicero wrote: corruptissima re publica plurimae leges, the most corrupt: duplicity and plurality of law.
Here is a video of the state controller (at the time) telling the income tax agency they needed to quickly welcome new products to the market. Their "product" is taxes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmbludDuF1Y&list=PLAkSTXk9sO0HRMy9MaiMtfn2RCBTAqclQ&index=24
Thank you.
Whatever can get them money is welcome.

They want only those most loyal to stay. They're importing loyalty, while exporting dissent.
However, those left behind don't pay the bills. They only extract from the system regardless of loyalty. Like all socialist operations, sooner or later they run out of other people's money. Even loyal leftists are being forced out simply because the math no longer works.
Money trumps loyalty
Mental illness
Desperation. They are frick'n broke and reaching for anything they can while the ship is sinking.
They are very desperate indeed.
That and they have no reverse gear. They will blow up the entire state rather than make any corrections.
They will burn down the whole state for the dollars.
What dollars? Those that have them are leaving in droves. There won't be any left for them to steal. The tax base is imploding - especially corporate.
They are looking Federal emergency fund. Usually when large scale fire happened, federal dollars coming in.
They will ban laughter next.
Eco -The Name of the Rose
Most people who live in CA cannot laugh anyway because they are too depressed with all the oppression.
What is this? Eco -The Name of the Rose
