I know I have told this story before on this forum. But this would be an appropriate time to tell it again.
Years ago I had a friend. Her little 8 year old brother was molested by a "man" while walking home from school through an orange grove - a popular short cut for many school children. This creep had done this to several children, both girls and boys. Dozens of them. Of course the family reported the crime. But this guy always managed to get off only to repeat his heinous behavior. He was able to get away with this crime as well - or so he thought.
My friend's father and brother were both Marines. Both had served several combat tours in Viet Nam. One day the police came to the door. My friend was also present and relayed the story to me. The man's body was found in the orange grove, the scene of his crimes. The guy's death was determined not to be from natural causes. Since my friend's brother's case was the most recent, the police started their investigation with her family. When asked by the police if they knew anything about the case, my friend said that her father and brother looked at each other for a moment and then responded no. The police said good and left.
My friend said it was like everyone knew what had happened and just left it there. The police were just as frustrated as the public in trying to get this monster off the streets. Now the problem had been solved. The man's killers were never found.
The problem with Europeans is that they have been so conditioned to look to the government for help they cannot take the initiative on their own - especially the Brits. They must resurrect that DNA that lies within them that fiercely pushed back against even the Romans. They need to get in touch with their inner Brit and Celt. It's in there somewhere.
Those who came here for the hardships and liberty were also self-selecting.
I am mostly German stock. Many of my relatives fought for the US in the Civil War, WWI and WWII.
There was still prejudice against loyal German Americans. The language, the press were suppressed, streets renamed, etc.
BUT European Germans were inculcated with worse GUILT! To hate themselves and their race and their heritage. All Europe is on that track as are many "white people" here.
This is MY take! The European Germans can have PRIDE in their stock who came here! The sins of the past are not inherent in the race or people, obviously! As well as the Irish and the Brits can have pride in their stock who came here!
Do they? Do they even think about it? Sister Cities is the only exchange I know of . . . other than Americans finding their European heritage and introducing themselves to their relatives there . . . a very rewarding experience. The relatives I found in Germany remembered more about my gr-gr-grandfather who went to America than most of his descendants here did! I was able to prove out all their stories about nephews who came later, etc.
Cool history. I have German on my mother's side. Also Ukrainian Jewish - but I don't know much about them other than they suffered under the Czar's pogroms in the late 1800's. Nothing was left of their communities by the 1920's. Not much left to trace. My great aunt used to break out in a cold sweat at the mention of Kozaks. They were known to carry out the Czar's dirty work and it was brutal. That side of my family fled the Ukraine to Russia and assimilated into the Volga Deutsch Germans. Not a hard leap of assimilation since the German dialect of the Volga Deutsch was not much different from Yiddish so it was easier for them to learn. Also, it wasn't a big leap for them to become Lutheran rather than Eastern Orthodox or Catholicism. That brand of Christianity was a lot more palatable. I can't even imagine what things were like for any of them.
The German side migrated from Germany to Russia under Catherine. They left Russia in 1905 - right before everything started to go to hell in a handbasket. I have pictures of the ship they came on when they left Latvia and sailed to the US along with some ship records. My great-grandfather had to grease a lot of palms to get to the US.
My grandfather said, don't let them take your guns. When that started to happen, and when the Russian government started conscripting Germans to go fight Japan in his war, they left. My grandfather was but a teenager at the time. The handwriting was on the wall. The protections that Germans enjoyed previously under the Russian Empire since Catherine's time were being dismantled. Time to leave. Being a German in Russia was not a place to be. All those German towns and villages around the Volga disappeared after two wars with Germany. Nothing much is known about those left behind. They disappeared. My cousin did manage to track our history back to some villages in Germany and went there. Interesting.
I agree. The Europeans are a lot more cognoscente of their ancestral family history than Americans are. My father's side, Irish and Brit, that is a long history we know quite a bit about. Some of it all the way back to the first century. A lot of European aristocracy so there are good records.
When their own government fails in the most basic of governance functions, to protect the public, then it is up to the citizens to do what the government fails to do. British history is full of such uprisings.
This British guy on YouTube said his daughter doesn’t go to the store with out him or her adult brother. In several videos he says if he says certain words he might get killed or taken down. On a reaction video of how big the American states are compared to countries Israel & Iran were on that video. He said, “if I say that country I might get killed” on another video he said he would get arrested if he had the English flag in the video. I pray the people of UK and Europe stand up and fight for their freedoms. This man’s channel is reactions to music and America.
