I question how real some of these stories are. I saw what was supposed to be a French guy saying he is in America and Costco blew his mind. OK there are only two Costco in France and they are both in Paris so I guess it's possible he had not been in one previously but they do have stores in most perhaps all European countries. So I don't really see why it was a thing for him.
There are 29 Costcos here in UK and I really like them. The store layouts are not modified they just take the US architectural plans and boom create a clone. Even down to the layout of the parking areas, which everyone loves because typical UK parking is squeezed so hard you can almost not open the doors of your car.
Well that was a commercial break I guess. Did I mention I like Costco lol

I’m looking at buying a 80’s merc soon, was going to fly over and drive back via Scotland ferry Northern Ireland back to the South.

There are several around outer London but best to go by car, although the one by Wembley is sort of viable by transit.
There are also Costcos near other cities. And many sell fuel!

Biggest mistake I made was letting my last one go about 20 years ago. I left it with a polish “mechanic” over Christmas for a service, went away for two weeks.
Came back, it was in my driveway but wouldn’t start. He forgot to put cooler or top up the oil, I can’t remember exactly, but lots of engine damage. It was essentially a write off, I couldn’t afford to fix it at the time (Ireland 2008, bad times).
